Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor pose together in new photoshoot | The Express Tribune

Alia Bhatt took to Instagram on Friday to post pictures from a recent photoshoot where she shared the frame with fellow actor and family member Kareena Kapoor. In the photoshoot, both the Bollywood beauties are fully glammed up with glowy makeup and styled hair and are wearing outfits stitched in an identical silhouette.

The collaboration post between Alia and Kareena was captioned, “Can it get any better? P.S. Can someone please cast us in a film together? Although, we may spend most of our time on set reflecting.”. Alia is married to Kareena’s first-cousin Ranbir Kapoor, hence making her Bebo’s sister-in-law. The two’s bond and chemistry are undeniable and translate well into the three pictures that were shared on the social media app yesterday, which have accumulated 2.7M likes.

The first picture shows the two bombshells posing and checking themselves out in hand-held mirrors that are held up for them, while the second shot is a close-up of their faces in those very mirrors. In the third picture, the two actors who are known to not take themselves too seriously are seen striking a pose while making a funny face.

Fans and internet users took to the comments to share their love for the two divas and second Alia’s idea of them working in a film together. “We need a film with this cast,” commented director Karan Johar who has worked with both Alia and Kareena in the past. Indian celebrity makeup artist Mickey Contractor wrote “This movie HAS to happen”.

While many were excited about the prospect of a Kareena-and-Alia starrer on the silver screen, many others were flooding the comments with references to the B-town ladies’ most iconic characters—Poo or Pooja of Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Ghum and Shanaya from Student of the Year—and this unexpected but delightful crossover between them. Famous Indian pop-culture and Bollywood memes Instagram account qualiteaposts commented “We need Shanaya and Pooja in a movie together”.

Their fellow actor Arjun Kapoor also gave his two cents, writing “Poo Square” and Netflix India could not help but comment “Three things we love about this: Good looks, good looks, good looks”—something so apt that also refers to one of Poo’s most recognized moments from the film.

It still remains to be seen whether or not Alia and Kareena will be appearing in a film together in the near future, but there’s no denying that the powerful duo will serve as the perfect ingredient for a cinematic hit.
