Prince Harry’s uncle, Charles Spencer, seemed to have offered his support to Meghan Markle after she was criticised for sharing insight from a private family moment.
Following the reunion with King Charles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had taken their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to Althorp estate to visit the final resting place of Princess Diana. Royal commentators and critics called out Meghan for ‘disrespecting’ the late princess.
Some were left livid over the fact that the private moment between family was not to be shared. While some reports claimed that if the Sussexes had made a deal to keep the Highgrove reunion secret, the same rule should have applied to Althorp.
However, the 9th Earl Spencer seemed to have given his quiet approval of Meghan, as his new wife shared an update about a Sandringham visit.
Professor Cat Jarman shared last week that her husband had taken her to the see the grave of his brother John, who is buried next to their grandfather. Even though, it was a private and sombre moment, Charles did not seem to have an issue with it.
According to royal editor Richard Eden, who has often criticised the Sussexes for oversharing, “there could have been no clearer way for Earl Spencer to spell out that he approved of Meghan’s social media posts from Althorp”.
Eden noted that King Charles may not have a “similarly generous view of such intimate moments being made public”.
However, Meghan technically did not disregard any rules of sharing details of her family’s whereabouts. It was only the public who were able to put the puzzle pieces together.
