Who knew spotting a dirty toilet at a national higjway could help you earn Rs 1,000.While it may sound odd, the news is very much real! With NHAI’s new scheme you can now hit the highway, click a dirty toll toilet, and the money goes straight to your FASTag account. The National Highways Authority of India has launched a special cleanliness drive that rewards highway users for reporting dirty toilets at toll plazas. Under the scheme, users can receive Rs 1,000 as FASTag credit for each valid report submitted through the ‘Rajmargyatra’ mobile app. The initiative will be in place across all National Highways until October 31, 2025, according to PTI.How to claim the money? To participate, users must upload clear, geo-tagged and time-stamped photos of unclean toilets via the latest version of the Rajmargyatra app. Along with the image, they are required to provide their name, location, vehicle registration number (VRN) and mobile number. Each VRN that files a valid complaint will get Rs 1,000 credited to the linked FASTag account. The reward is non-transferable and cannot be withdrawn in cash. The scheme applies only to toilets built, operated or maintained by NHAI. Facilities at petrol stations, dhabas or other locations outside NHAI’s control are not eligible. Each VRN can claim the reward only once during the entire scheme period. Similarly, each toilet facility is eligible for just one reward per day, regardless of the number of complaints received. If multiple users report the same toilet on the same day, only the first valid submission will be considered for the reward, PTI reported. All entries will be checked using AI-assisted screening and manual verification. Any manipulated, duplicate or previously reported images will be rejected.
