Inspired by Gaurav Gupta’s Paris Couture Show, Sonam Kapoor’s custom ensemble featured the signature metal breastplate.

In a powerful representation of Gaurav Gupta’s couture collection, Across The Flame, Sonam Kapoor seamlessly embraced the avant-garde vision in a celestial ensemble featuring a metal breastplate.
Sonam Kapoor wore the Gilded Drip Metal Breastplate over the cosmic tulle dress with satin sculpting details.
Styled by Rhea Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor adorned the sculptural piece of art for Kerastase and looked absolutely surreal in the iconic custom couture. The metallic gold breastplate is a signature element in Gaurav Gupta’s design language and Sonam ethereal beauty echoes the mysticism surrounding this beautiful narrative. The voluminous monochrome bottom of the dress and the opulence of the sculpted breastplate together tells a tale of love and resilience.
The meticulously crafted breastplate required over 120 hours of expert construction. To ensure precision, a custom dummy was created in Sonam’s exact measurements, allowing the sculptural piece to be moulded with meticulous accuracy.
“When we were approached to create this look for Sonam, the brief was to highlight the elements of oil, luminosity, and transformation. We thought the gold metal breastplate, with its dripping accents inspired by the fluidity of oil, would be the perfect reflection of that. We paired it with a cosmic black sculpted dress, showcasing our signature tailoring. Sonam’s presence and the way she carries herself brought the entire vision to life,” expresses couturier Gaurav Gupta.
Sonam, an epitome of grace and glamour, looked like a vision in the custom piece and was beautifully captured on camera by photographer Sheldon Santos. Each time Sonam adorns a well crafted ensemble, she makes it her own and does full justice to not just the team but also to craftsmanship.

Accentuating her gorgeous face with minimal but timeless makeup was celebrity makeup artist Namrata Soni. Sonam’s luscious long hair was styled by celebrity hair stylist Hrishikesh Naskar and he made sure her natural texture was the showstopper. Rhea was joined by her team including stylists Sanya Kapoor, Niyati and Ria Kothari.
A symbol of armour and protection, Gaurav Gupta continued the evolution of metal casted sculpting in his latest collection, Across the Flame.
Taking to Instagram, Rhea shared Sonam’s creative couture style through a series of images. Rhea expressed the look with the words, that said: “Today’s Drip. In custom @gauravguptaofficial couture. Drawn from his powerful show in Paris.”
The show Rhea is talking about is the Paris Haute Couture Week Showcase Gaurav Gupta presented in January 2025. The much-talked about Spring/Summer 2025 collection was inspired by the harrowing experience of a near-fatal accident that engulfed Gaurav and his life partner Navkirat Sodhi. This collection is a journey to healing, seen through the lens of their shared cosmic odyssey. It is a testament to the strength found in vulnerability, the wisdom of the stars, and the light that emerges from the darkest flames.
The soul of this collection lies in Astral Projection—a transformative, out-of-body experience that Gaurav and Navkirat embraced on their healing journey.
