PCB breaks silence on reports claiming Mohsin Naqvi's resignation – SUCH TV

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday denied reports suggesting that Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had resigned from his post following his recent appointment as the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

Speculation regarding Naqvi’s resignation began circulating on various sports websites and social media platforms over the weekend, with several reports claiming that his increasing responsibilities, particularly after assuming the ACC presidency, might compel him to step down from the PCB chairmanship.

However, officials from the PCB dismissed such reports, terming them “baseless”.

A senior board official said, “There is no truth to the reports about Mr. Naqvi’s resignation. He continues to perform his duties as PCB Chairman and remains fully committed to the development of Pakistan cricket.”

Naqvi, who also serves as the Federal Minister for Interior, was elected unopposed as the ACC President in early April, becoming the first Pakistani to hold the position since 2008.

His appointment was hailed by cricket circles as a significant development for the country’s representation in regional cricket affairs.

The official further stated that holding dual roles in the PCB and ACC was “not unusual” and that proper time management would allow Naqvi to fulfill both responsibilities effectively.

“It is an honour for Pakistan that our representative is leading the ACC. Mr. Naqvi has no intention of stepping down from the PCB at this stage,” the official added.
