the study author wrote in an email.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Jayachandran Kizhakkedathu, professor of pathology and laboratory medicine at the University of British Columbia, shared with Fox News Digital that this discovery could be a &#8220;transformative step in the development of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/health\/medical-research\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>safer medical devices<\/u><\/a>.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/health\/leukemia-patient-receives-first-bone-marrow-transplant-deceased-organ-donor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><u>LEUKEMIA PATIENT RECEIVES FIRST-EVER BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT FROM DECEASED ORGAN DONOR<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The research \u2013 which was published in the journal Nature Materials \u2013 confirmed that mimicking the body\u2019s own mechanisms, instead of repelling blood components, is &#8220;key to truly biocompatible device design,&#8221;
