QHifS\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p>Global aerospace business <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/melrose\">Melrose<\/a> Industries has said it has moved \u201cswiftly\u201d to alleviate the impact of US tariffs which have complicated trade across the industry.<\/p>\n<p>The company, which makes engine parts for aircraft and provides a range of technology for flights, said it is closely monitoring the situation.<\/p>\n<p>Chief executive Peter Dilnot said: \u201cThe recent introduction of tariffs has created additional complexity across the aerospace industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, US President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/donald-trump\">Donald Trump<\/a> introduced sweeping new levies on US imports, at varying rates for different countries and goods being supplied.<\/p>\n<p>This included a 25% charge on aluminium and steel imports \u2013 materials which are typically used for components that make up aircraft structures and engines.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/boeing\">Boeing<\/a>, a US-based aeroplane manufacturer, recently said its customers in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/china\">China<\/a> have indicated they will not take deliveries, in a sign of the escalating trade conflict between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>But Melrose told shareholders it has managed to take a number of measures to mitigate the impact of tariffs \u2013 specifically relating to products being exported to the US and supplied to its manufacturing sites.<\/p>\n<p>These measures include adjusting its supply chain, negotiating with customers and suppliers, and the use of \u201cdrawback\u201d, which involves reclaiming taxes on imported goods that are later exported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have acted swiftly to evaluate potential effects on the group and have a path to successfully mitigate our identified direct exposure at current tariff levels,\u201d Mr Dilnot said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe situation remains fluid, and we will continue to work closely with our customers and suppliers to respond as needed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The company still expects to report an adjusted operating profit of \u00a3700 million for 2025 \u2013 although this guidance does not include the impact of tariffs.<\/p>\n<p>Revenues are forecast to come in between \u00a33.55 billion and \u00a33.7 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Melrose added that demand within both its civil and defence markets remains strong.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a
