For two hours, a Delhi-based creator stepped out on a scooty after dressing up as a woman. “I will show you how safe girls are in Delhi at night,” he says at the start of the video. The reaction began almost as soon as he left home. He says men started staring at him while he was on the road, including at a petrol pump where, according to him, the attention continued as he waited for his vehicle to be refuelled.He then describes an encounter with two men who, he says, stopped looking at him and began following him while trying to move closer. At another point, a man approached him and began speaking to him.The creator continued riding, recording the encounters as they happened. He says two auto drivers later began deliberately moving their vehicles in front of him. One appeared to stop after noticing that his friends were filming, while another, he claims, repeatedly drove towards him before eventually leaving.The experience became more unsettling when cars also appeared to follow him for a stretch of the ride. “This has become very scary. I think we should stop this,” he says in the video.

‘It has become so disgusting for me’

By the end of the two-hour experiment, the creator says the repeated attention had left him shaken.”In the last two hours, it has become so disgusting for me,” he said. “Cycle, bike, auto, car. Everyone has tried to follow me,” he added, describing what he had encountered during the night. His conclusion was simple: “It is not safe for girls to go out alone at night. Really, the lives of girls are very difficult.”What he set out to capture as a social experiment ended with him experiencing, within a couple of hours, the kind of persistent attention that many women recognise as more than simply being noticed on the street.
