Pakistan announces 17-member squad for Bangladesh test series | The Express Tribune

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.

This series marks the debut test campaign for Jason Gillespie, the head coach of Pakistan’s red-ball format, assisted by Azhar Mahmood.

The training camp for the Pakistan Test squad is set to begin on August 11 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The camp aims to prepare the team for the two-match test series against Bangladesh, with the first test scheduled from 21 to 25 August in Rawalpindi, followed by the second test from 30 August to September 3 in Karachi.

Bangladesh’s Test team will arrive in Islamabad on the morning of August 17 and is expected to start training on the same afternoon.

Saud Shakeel has been appointed as the national team’s vice-captain and will also lead Pakistan Shaheens in their first four-day match against Bangladesh A.

Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Ali, and Mohammad Huraira have been included in the squad to add fresh talent to the team.

National team:

The 17-member squad for the Test series includes Shan Masood as captain, with Saud Shakeel serving as the vice-captain.

The squad features Amir Jamal (subject to fitness), Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Kamran Ghulam, Khurram Shehzad, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Huraira, Mohammad Rizwan as the wicketkeeper, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Sarfaraz Ahmed (wicketkeeper), and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Pakistan Shaheens (for 1st four-day match, vs Bangladesh ‘A’, dates TBC):

The Pakistan Shaheens squad, which will compete against Bangladesh A, consists of Saud Shakeel as captain, accompanied by Kamran Ghulam, Mehran Mumtaz, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Rameez Junior, Mohammad Huraira, Naseem Shah, Saad Baig as the wicketkeeper, Saad Khan, Saim Ayub, Sameen Gul, Sarfaraz Ahmed (wicketkeeper), and Umar Amin.
